Association of Washington Business's Brunell to speak at chamber lunch

Don Brunell, president of the Association of Washington Business, will be the keynote speaker March 11 at the Southwest King County Chamber of Commerce March Membership Luncheon at Highline Community College.

Brunell will provide an update on important legislative session items, as well as information on the economy and how it is affecting business and competitiveness. He will allow time for audience questions.

Brunell is a native of Montana and a graduate of the University of Montana, Missoula, with a Bachelor’s of Arts in education. Before joining AWB, he started his career in journalism as a writer and editor for two Montana daily newspapers and then went to Washington, D.C., as a press aide to Congressman Richard Shoup. In 1975, he started lobbying for The Inland Forest Resource Council. In 1978, he became a communications manager for Crown Zellerbach and at the same time became a member of AWB’s board. In 1986, Brunell became vice president of government affairs for AWB and was named president in 1988. He also served in the Army as part of Special Forces and retired as a major in the Washington Army National Guard.

The luncheon runs 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 pm, Mt. Constance/Mt. Olympus Conference Room, Building 8, Highline Community College, 2400 S. 240th

Des Moines, WA 98198. The Student Union Building is located on the first floor. Lunch is $20 pre-paid by noon on March 10th or $35 at the door.
