Ashley Furniture HomeStore will celebrate its grand opening at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 16 with a ribbon cutting by Tukwila Mayor Jim Haggerton.
The store recently opened at 17601 Southcenter Parkway in the former Levitz Furniture location.
The event runs from noon to 5 p.m. The store will have one drawing each hour starting at 1 p.m. for $500 furniture giveaways as well as a grand prize drawing at 5 p.m. for a $5,000 shopping spree. Hot dogs and refreshments will be served.
During the celebration, crews will tear down the large Levitz sign that has been a Southcenter area icon since the early 1970s. A giant balloon with the Ashley logo will replace the sign.
“We are proud that Hill Country Holdings, an Ashley Furniture HomeStore operator, chose our city,” said Haggerton in an Ashley Furniture media release. “The opening of this store is an excellent example of the positive economic growth and development coming to Southcenter. We recently had a grocery store, bakery, and four restaurants open at the mall. And near Ashley Furniture HomeStore, Toys R’ Us and Babies R’ Us will open in a newly expanded space, as well.”
Ashley Furniture is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call the store at 206-574-3600.
The company also has Washington stores in Spokane, Richland, Liberty Lake, Silverdale and Burlington.
