Seattle Aquarium seeking beach naturalists

January 31, 2012 · 3:47 PM

The Seattle Aquarium is again seeking volunteer beach naturalists to answer questions at beaches in King County this summer.

Naturalists will attend a program orientation on Tuesday, March 13, and receive training from marine and interpretative experts on five weekday evenings and three weekend days in March, April and May.

Once trained, volunteers spend three summer days educating visitors about beach ecology and beach etiquette at Carkeek Park, Constellation Park (Alki), Des Moines Beach Park, Golden Gardens, Lincoln Park, Olympic Sculpture Park Beach, Redondo Beach, Richmond Beach or Seahurst Park. To sign up or get more information, email beachnaturalist@seattleaquarium.org or call 206-386-4365.

Sponsors for the 14th year of the Seattle Aquarium Beach Naturalist Program include Amgen, the Boeing Charitable Trust, City of Burien, City of Des Moines, City of Shoreline, King Conservation District, the Forum for WRIA 8 (Lake Washington/Cedar/Sammamish Watershed), People for Puget Sound, Seattle Aquarium, Seattle Parks and Recreation, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the Watershed Ecosystem Forum for WRIA 9 (Green Duwamish and Central Puget Sound Watershed).
