The second annual Green Tukwila Day is Oct. 6 and will be held at Tukwila Park from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

According to a press release from Tukwila Parks and Recreation, the Green Tukwila Partnership works to restore Tukwila’s parks and urban forests for future generations.

This is an opportunity for the community to learn about healthy forests and then volunteers will remove invasive English ivy, plant native trees and shrubs, the press release said.

Tools will be provided and it is a family friendly event that will take place rain or shine.

To sign up, go to tukwilaWA.gov/GreenTukwila.

The Tukwila Historical Society has been the location for the Japanese Sister City Gift Exchange Exhibit for the past several years. The city of Tukwila had many of the artifacts in storage and by joint effort it was decided to place the items in the museum for all to enjoy. For a viewing of the exhibit, please feel free to contact the Tukwila Historical Society to arrange a visit. Photo by Louise Jones-Brown
