Under new regulations, Tukwila landlords must apply for annual rental business license
November 20, 2010 · 10:28 AM
Beginning Jan. 1, the City of Tukwila's new regulations affecting all residential rental housing units in Tukwila will go into effect.
All owners of rental housing are required to apply for an annual residential rental business license. This includes the following uses:
• Multi-family complexes with more than five units.
• Two-, three- and fourplexes.
• Rental condos.
• Accessory dwelling units that are rented.
The business license requires a comprehensive inspection of each unit every fourth year.
The program was created to help ensure Tukwila residents have safe, healthy housing conditions, and that rental properties meet acceptable standards for maintenance.
