Special Olympics Washington and the Seattle Sounders FC as a Global Football partner have invited Special Olympics Colorado to partner with the Colorado Rapids to participate in a ground-breaking series featuring two Special Olympics teams with affiliations to their home state MLS clubs.

The 5-on-5 Unified match is noon, Sunday July 8, at the Starfire Soccer Complex in Tukwila, 14800 Fort Dent Way.  The match features athletes with and without intellectual disabilities playing on the same team, representing the Sounders and Rapids.

In addition, both the Special Olympics Washington Unified and Special Olympics Colorado Rapids Unified Teams will  attend Saturday Night’s Sounders game vs. the Rapids in a suite and will meet the teams on the field following the match.

The match-up is the first game of the home and away series. The Colorado Rapids will host the Special Olympics Sounders on Saturday, July 28.

Special Olympics Unified Sports brings together athletes with and without intellectual disabilities, who train and compete on the same teams.

Throughout the year, in a variety of sports ranging from basketball and soccer to golf and skiing, Unified athletes build their bodies, sharpen their skills, challenge the competition and have fun. It’s a physical workout that builds friendships, character, and inspires greatness in all who participate.
