Tukwila needs volunteers to count bike riders, pedestrians
September 17, 2012 · 11:31 AM
The City of Tukwila is looking for volunteers as it prepares to participate for its fourth year in the national annual count of bicycles and pedestrians.
The information collected gives the city and the region a better understanding of the travel choices people are making, the routes people are choosing and where transportation improvement dollars should be spent.
The counts are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, Sept. 25, 26, and 27, 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Volunteers can count during one shift or as many as they like.
According to last year’s count, bicycle travel at the junction of the Interurban and Green River trails had the highest growth.
To volunteer, contact senior planner Moira Bradshaw by email at Moira.Bradshaw@TukwilaWA.gov or 206-431-3651.
