Snoqualmie Pass closure Thursday evening could take hour longer than usual for blasting

This evening's closure of Interstate 90 just east of Snoqualmie Pass could take about two hours, twice as long as normal, because of the nature of the rock blasting construction crews are doing.
The Washington State Department of Transportation and contractor crews are blasting in the same area near the snowshed that closed I-90 for almost three hours over a month ago. Crews will close the pass at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, from Hyak (milepost 54) to the Price Creek Sno-Park (milepost 61). A reopening time depends on the amount of time it takes to remove large pieces of debris and for crews to evaluate any damage to the highway. Drivers need to plan for more than two hours of added travel time.
Drivers may also experience delays from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, due to a single lane westbound closure.
