Three injured in I-5 Tukwila accident near Southcenter; witnesses sought

Three people were injured during a head-on collision in Tukwila between two vehicles at about 8:09 a.m. Monday on the Southcenter Parkway onramp to northbound Interstate 5.

A 41-year-old Seattle man drove a 1988 Dodge Dakota pickup southbound in the northbound lanes of I-5 and exited to Southcenter Parkway, according to a Washington State Patrol media release. The pickup then collided with a 1995 Saturn entering northbound I-5 from Southcenter Parkway.

Paramedics transported the pickup driver to Highline Medical Center in Burien with undisclosed injuries.

A 52-year-old Tukwila man driving the Saturn and his passenger, a 62-year-old Tukwila man, were transported with undisclosed injuries to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation but alcohol or drugs were involved, according to the report. Possible vehicular assault charges are pending.

Detectives are seeking witnesses that may have seen the wrong-way vehicle, collision or any event leading up to or following the crash. If you have any information or know somebody that does, call Sgt. John Anderson at 425-401-7745 or detective Greg Wilcoxson at 425-401-7746.

The accident closed the roadway for about one hour and 50 minutes.
