A loud noise heard by witnesses during a disturbance at about 8:20 p.m. Saturday in Westfield Mall’s food court and theater area was not gunfire, according to the Tukwila Police Department.
Thinking the loud noise was gunfire, people started to run and claimed that shots had been fired, according to police. In talking with witnesses who didn’t run, Tukwila Police officers working at the mall determined that no shots were fired nor were any weapons involved in the disturbance, according to a Police Department news release.
The individuals who caused the disturbance were not located, according to police.
There were no injuries to bystanders or witnesses. Responding officers on scene restored order and tried to calm people and provide the information above, according to police.
The mall was not evacuated remained open Saturday night.
