The Tukwila City Council will hold a special work session today (Tuesday, Nov. 10) on what to do with additional tax capacity if voters approve annexing to the Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority next year.
The study session is 5:30 p.m. in council chambers, Tukwila City Hall, 6200 Southcenter Boulevard.
The council will vote in the next few months whether to place annexation to the RFA on the April ballot. Tuesday’s meeting is to get ready to answer voters’ expected questions about what to do with property taxes now used for fire services and fire capital costs. Taxpayers would still pay for those costs, but through an assessment from the RFA.
The council will go through an interactive exercise to determine potential priorities for those tax dollars.
