A two-alarm brush fire had State Route 599 in Tukwila closed Wednesday afternoon while fire crews extinguished the blaze.
When the Tukwila Fire Department responded to the report of the fire in the 13300 block of the southbound lane at about 3:30 p.m., firefighters discovered multiple fires along the highway in the same in the area, the department said in a media release.
The Kent Fire Regional Fire Authority, Renton Fire Department, North Highline Fire District, Boeing Fire Department, King County Fire District 20, King County Fire District, the South Puget Sound Regional Hand Team from King County Fire District 44, South King County paramedics and Zone 3 Fire Explorers Rehab assisted with the call.
Tukwila fire investigators are working with the Washington State Patrol to determine the cause. No injuries were reported.
Less than an hour after the 599 fire broke out, the Kent RFA responded to another brush fire along southbound I-5 near the South 216th Street overpass.
