Twelve Foster High School track and field athletes will compete Friday and Saturday in the 2A West Central District Track and Field championships in Bremerton.
Those 12 athletes were among the 18 from Foster who competed in the 2A sub-district meet May 12 and 13 at Sunset Chev Stadium at Sumner High School.
The top 5 athletes from each event at the district tournaments will advance to the state tournament May 28 at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.
Head coach Louis D’Andrea hopes to have “a few” athletes qualify for state. Foster has five athletes who are ranked: senior Eric Teng (discus, javelin), senior Shakila Omar (200 meter and 400 meter), senior Zane Jacobson (javelin), senior Kassandra Esparza (discus) and junior Aolani Medrano (long jump).
Those Foster athletes, along with following ones, will compete in the district tournament: Isaiah Ferrer (long jump, 200 meter, 400 meter), Christian Nguyen (pole vault), Desiree Terrell (shot put), Kenny Do (110 meter hurdles) and the 4 x 100-meter relay team of Robyn Parker, Shakila Omar, Nadine Chambers and Kalkedan Alamerew.
The championships begin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday is at Bremerton High School, 1500 13th St., Bremerton.
