The beat continued for the Foster High football team on Friday, Sept. 17.
Behind a huge performance by running back Cedric Cooper, the Bulldogs rolled over Highline 41-14 in its Seamount League opener.
Cooper rushed for 151 yards and four touchdowns on 24 carries. He ran for two 4-yard touchdowns, one from 5-yards out and broke free for a 20-yard scoring run in the second quarter.
With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 3-0 for the season. It’s the first time since 2003 that Foster has opened the season 3-0.
The Bulldogs wasted little time jumping all over the Pirates as quarterback Aaron Rodriguez connected with Dario Bosiljkic on a 3-yard touchdown strike in the first quarter. Cooper made it 14-0 with his first touchdown run, a 4-yarder, moments later.
Highline remained in the game with a score late in the first quarter. Foster, however, virtually iced the victory before halftime, ripping off a 20-point second quarter on two touchdown runs from Cooper and another from Rodriguez.
While Cooper enjoyed a huge performance, Rodriguez continued to deliver solid play at quarterback, completing 8 of 10 passes for 114 yards and a touchdown. Tuifua Tausinga led all receivers with three receptions for 56 yards. Ian Buckmaster led the defense with 13 tackles while Morya Breland racked up 3.5 tackles for -11 yards.
