The Foster girls basketball team took a thrilling double-overtime victory Saturday afternoon over Steilacoom High School in the district tournament.
The 65-63 win kept the girls’ postseason drive alive as they now will play Olympic High School of Bremerton at 7:45 pm. today (Tuesday) at Foss High School, 2112 S. Tyler St., in Tacoma near Cheney Stadium.
The Foster girls lost their opening game in the 2016 West Central/SeaKing 2A Girls district basketball tournament to River Ridge High School 61-30 on Thursday, Feb. 11.
The top five finishers in the district tournament advance to the regional tournament.
The game against the Steilacoom Sentinels stayed relatively close, with Foster ahead at the end of the third quarter, 44-35.
Steilacoom then outscored the Bulldogs 18-9 in the fourth quarter, tying the game at 53 apiece. The teams each scored 4 points in the first overtime.
In the second overtime, Foster outscored Steilacoom 8-6, taking the 65-63 victory.
Sophomore center Emolani Morris scored 17 points to lead Foster in scoring. Freshman point guard Makana Montoya scored 14 points.
