BevMo!, a national specialty beverage retailer, opened a new store last week in Tukwila.

The 10,000-square-foot store opened Sept. 28 at 17197 Southcenter Parkway. The chain specializes in large volume sales of spirits, wine and beer.

BevMo! started in the San Francisco area in 1994 and now has 121 stores in California, Arizona and Washington. The company recently opened stores in Silerdale and Tacoma, also near major shopping malls.

BevMo!, in the former Tukwila Recliner Land store, features more than 1,800 wines, 1,400 beers and 1,400 spirits. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Voters approved Initiative 1183 last year to get the state out of the liquor business and privatize sales. That change became effective in June and opened the door for nationwide companies to do business in the state.
