Your Holiday To-Don’t List

Seattle Southside Regional Tourism Authority has unveiled a digital gift guide and holiday planner

This year has flown by and it’s already time to start planning for the holiday season. The Seattle Southside Regional Tourism Authority (RTA) has unveiled a holiday travel guide to get the ball rolling. The Holiday To-Don’t List is a digital gift guide and holiday vacation/staycation planner to help you make the most of the holiday season.

Following the tongue-in-cheek lessons on the to-don’t list will help you stay sane during holiday travel. Some of the to-don’ts include “Don’t forget to treat yourself. No one wants to be the holiday grump,” and “Don’t get hangry. You’re going to need the knife and fork for pumpkin pie.” The guide explores several seasonal topics including: Seattle Southside itinerary suggestions, area holiday events, and a gift guide featuring unique items from Seattle Southside’s boutique shops, world-class restaurants, and popular attractions.

Staycation packages are a great way to destress over the hectic holiday season. While the kids are on winter break, it’s nice to take a little respite in a hotel (especially if that hotel has an indoor pool!) before the chaos of family dinners, winter travel and visits from the big red guy. During your stay, you could take the family to Santa’s Landing Party at The Museum of Flight or down to Redondo to watch the Argosy Christmas Ships light up the Sound.

If you are heading out of town for the holidays to visit family, take advantage of several Park, Stay, & Fly packages to ease the stress and hassle of travel before departure. Shuttle transportation to and from the airport and the cost of parking included in an overnight stay make for an affordable alternative to parking at the airport. By staying near the airport, a day before your trip, holiday shopping can be wrapped up, the kids can release some steam, parents can relax, and everyone can enjoy the international dining scene. Along with the countless other family friendly activities in the area, Seattle Southside makes for the perfect pre-trip holiday adventure.

The guide features several customized itineraries for the winter months. The “family fun” itinerary will take you indoor skydiving at iFLY Seattle and gift shopping at Westfield Southcenter. The “treat yourself” itinerary will guide you through a relaxing getaway including The Spa at Cedarbrook Lodge and an exquisite chocolate tour at Seattle Chocolate.

The Seattle Southside holiday travel guide can be downloaded for free here. If you’re looking for more holiday fun, check out Seattle Southside’s Winter Holiday for more winter itineraries, holiday events, and seasonal recipes.

Happy Holidays!
