Counting under way of SPEEA vote on Boeing contract

The results are expected sometime tonight as some 23,000 members of the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) were voting on a new contract with Boeing.
The results will be posted on SPEEA's website with the tabulating is done.
The union leadership had recommended a no vote. Negotiations were already scheduled to resume Tuesday, regardless of the vote outcome. The leadership wants a strong no vote to show Boeing that its membership is behind it in the negotiations, say union leaders.
The counting began at about 5 p.m. Monday at SPEEA's heaquarters in Tukwila. SPEEA represents Boeing engineers and techical workers in the Puget Sound region.
