The Tukwila School District has parted ways with Interim Superintendent Judith Berry.
The news came late Tuesday following the district’s school board meeting.
Below is a statement released by the school district about the termination of Berry’s contract:
“The Board of Directors of the Tukwila School District is the guardian of the decisions that affect student achievement, budget priorities and strategic focus. The board members believe that we represent a fresh perspective and a new direction for our school district.
This board is choosing to move our school district forward with new leadership. Our actions (Tuesday) evening are intended to demonstrate the board’s desire for the future for our school district that will be characterized by trust, transparency, responsibility and progress. It is our sincere hope that we can regroup and take our first steps on a new path, together.”
Taking over in place of Berry as interim superintendent will be JoAnne Fabian, who is currently director of the district’s teaching and learning.
