A Stuff the Bus food drive last Saturday collected more than a ton of food for the Tukwila Weekend SnackPack Program.
Shoppers at Saars Super Saver Foods in Tukwila donated 2,019 pounds of food and water and $369 to help ensure students without stable housing who attend Tukwila’s three elementary schools have food when school isn’t in session.
Organizers hope to have another Stuff the Bus food drive in February but no date has been set. In March, Macy’s Logistics is hosting a Bag Hunger food drive. Last year, the event brought in more than 3,500 pounds of food for the SnackPack program.
The first Tukwila Weekend SnackPack Dinner and Auction is planned for Friday, April 28 at the Tukwila Community Center. Online ticket sales begin Feb 28. For more information visit, facebook.com/TukwilaWeekendSnackPack/.
